PHNOM PENH (23 May 2016) – Through interactive voice response (IVR) technology, listeners with a smartphone can choose the information they want to access. OHCHR-Cambodia is using this technology to disseminate information about people's rights upon arrest. This month, OHCHR-Cambodia launched a new Android IVR app based on one of its key publications – an arrest rights card called "Your rights if the police arrest and detain you". Developed jointly with the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Justice in 2012, the card is aimed at raising public awareness on the basic rights of all persons who are arrested and held in police custody, based on the Cambodian laws, in order to protect them from ill-treatment. Listen and learn about these basic human rights. Download it once and play it whenever and wherever you like, even when you're offline! Please follow the link to install the app here.
