13 March 2008 – OHCHR Representative, Christophe Peschoux, today urged the Government to strengthen its commitment to the rights of disabled persons by ratify the new Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which Cambodia signed last year. He was speaking on behalf of OHCHR, ILO and UNICEF at a one-day national workshop which the three UN agencies had organized together with the Ministry of Social Affairs to raise awareness about the Convention. The Minister of Social Affairs, H. E. Ith Sam Heng, responded positively at the workshop, which was attended by more than 100 representatives of government ministries and NGOs.
