to provide information to the public on the international obligations business enterprises and States have to carry out human rights due diligence which entails the obligation to identify, prevent, mitigate and account for how they address the adverse human rights impacts that their operations may have, including the obligations related to consultation, participation and addressing social and environmental impacts through direct communication with affected individuals and groups (cf. UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, Principles 17-24).
