HRC9 January 2014 - Cambodia will be reviewed once again by the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva on 28 January (and not 5 February as previously arranged). The Universal Periodic Review (UPR) is a unique process which involves the periodic review of the human rights situation in all UN Member States. It takes place every four years. Cambodia was first reviewed on 1 December 2009. The review led to the adoption of 91 recommendations proposed by States to Cambodia to improve its human rights record. Cambodia accepted all recommendations. During the second review, the Human Rights Council will focus on the status of implementation of these recommendations.
