GENEVA (22 February 2016) – It's the 50th Anniversary of the Human Rights Covenants! OHCHR global has created a new "Our Rights. Our Freedoms. Always" microsite for the occasion, and it has been officially launched today to coincide with the first day of the meeting of the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights taking place in Geneva, Switzerland.
This new site features a variety of information highlighting the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR).
The website includes historical information on the Covenants, and downloadable publications, including easy-to-understand guides on the Covenants and the committees, as well as a "pocket-sized" guide to all the rights and freedoms the Covenants cover. It also features films telling the stories of how the Covenants have directly impacted the lives of ordinary people. The website will be updated regularly, with content from meetings, events, and new stories and films as they are gathered.
