31 October 2008 - The Government has submitted its initial report on implementation of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights to the Geneva-based committee responsible for monitoring implementation by States who have signed up to the treaty. Under the terms of the Covenant, which Cambodia joined in August 1992, the Government was supposed to submit its first report by June 1994 and then report periodically every five years. The Committee will discuss the report with a Government delegation at its session in Geneva in May 2009. The report will be made public shortly.
