GENEVA (16 October 2014) – It is a pleasure to meet you, six weeks after taking up this post. I feel extremely honoured to have been appointed High Commissioner for Human Rights – a position that has been gaining in strength through the tenure of each and every one of my predecessors. Together with my staff, we have a mandate to "protect and promote" human rights for everyone everywhere.
