03 October 2014 – The United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Cambodia organized its seventh ECCC Legacy Update Meeting to provide stakeholders with a forum for sharing updates on the progress of various legacy initiatives underway to strengthen the work of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) in the domestic justice sector, as well as to consider next steps of the programme. The meeting was attended by 55 participants from a broad cross-section of government, civil society, development partners and the legal and judicial community. The meeting was opened by high level speakers from OHCHR-Cambodia (Ms. Wan-Hea Lee), the ECCC (Judge Claudia Fenz), the Bar Association of the Kingdom of Cambodia (H.E Bun Honn) and the Ministry of Justice (H.E. Chin Malin). A range of stakeholders participated, including representative of the Ministry of Justice, BAKC, ECCC officials, judicial officers, RAJP and lawyers, judges and prosecutors from the Court of Appeal, NGO representatives and diplomats.
