28 January 2009 - In a statement, the Cambodia Country Office has expressed its consternation at the violent eviction of the last residents at Dey Krahom in central Phnom Penh on 25 January. The eviction was carried out at night by armed police and company employees in violation of international and national laws. The blatant disregard for these basic principles illustrates the fundamental weakness of the rule of law in Cambodia. The Office urges just and fair compensation to be paid to the former residents.
