9 August 2012 - Indigenous media can be a powerful tool to draw attention to the rights violations against indigenous peoples, and to highlight the small victories won by them in defence of their rights. This year's International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples is also an event to recognize the increasing movement of indigenous communities worldwide who take proactive roles in protecting their right to land.
