10 October 2014 - Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) Cambodia and the Ministry of Justice co-organized the fifth judicial roundtable discussion on "Aspects of the Code of Criminal Procedure with Judges, Prosecutors, Lawyers and Clerks from Phnom Penh and Kandal Courts" in Phnom Penh. The roundtable discussion was attended by 36 legal and judicial professionals including judges, prosecutors, clerks and lawyers working on criminal cases from the Appeal Court, Phnom Penh Municipal Court, and Kandal Court. The roundtable discussion provided opportunities for all participants to discuss issues arising in pre-trial detention and the new form for pre-trial detention orders. Also, it gave the opportunity to discuss the challenges they have faced in implementing the Code of Criminal Procedure and propose their recommendations for amendments to the Code. The discussion also used the practices from the the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) as examples of how the Code might best be applied. The meeting was chaired by H.E.
