01 July 2009 - The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers, Mr. Leandro Despouy, today expressed concern at recent attempts to restrict the freedom of lawyers to represent their clients effectively in Cambodia. He reminded the Royal Government of its obligations under international law which stipulates that lawyers should not be targeted from prosecution for doing their job.
