4 May 2012 - The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Cambodia, Mr. Surya P. Subedi, begins his eight-day mission to the country today with an aim to examine the situation of economic and other land concessions and their impact on the human rights of local communities. Mr. Subedi will also look into the role and responsibility of business enterprises in benefiting from land concessions. The Special Rapporteur will visit concession areas in the provinces of Ratanakiri, Kratie and Stung Treng, and meet with the respective provincial authorities.
