10 October 2012 – Years of collaboration between the Court of Appeal and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Cambodia have yielded encouraging results with the completion of new office- and court-space at the Court Appeal in Phnom Penh. This increased capacity will help the Court of Appeal and the Office of the General Prosecutor, to address common concerns relating to long delays in hearing appeal cases, which have been contributing to excessive detention and prison overcrowding. With financial support from the Government of Australia and OHCHR, the Royal Government of Cambodia opened today its expanded Court of Appeal, installed with necessary court equipment and facilities.
