09 July 2008 - The United Nations Prize in the Field of Human Rights is an honorary award given to individuals and organizations in recognition of outstanding achievement in human rights It was established in 1966 and has been awarded periodically since 1973. The 2008 Prize will be awarded at an event at UN Headquarters in New York on 10 December 2008, as part of the annual commemoration of Human Rights Day.
